Laser Periodontal Therapy

Lasers have been used in medicine and dentistry for many years. The FDA has approved the use of lasers for many dental procedures involving both soft (gums) and hard (bone and tooth) tissue. Dr. Godino and our hygienists Ann and Tracy all have been certified, through continuing education by a third party (other than the laser company), to use the lasers we have in the office.

Concerning the periodontal use of the laser, it is used after the root surfaces of the involved teeth are rendered clean of any debris and calcified deposits. The laser is then used to remove diseased and infected tissue lining the pockets around your teeth. At the same time the laser will kill the bacteria that cause your gum disease and promotes healing of the gums around your teeth. Lasers can also help increase circulation and collagen formation at the bottom of your periodontal pockets and help revive or rejuvenate your attachment.

If you are one who likes to have the latest technology and techniques used to benefit your oral health then the laser is right for you.
